An object changes when the way we look at it changes.

Its surroundings, too, are transformed when an object comes to occupy an unexpected place within them.

Removed from their familiar settings, objects take on a new dimension. Porcelain, earthenware, ceramics and many other witnesses to everyday life leave, for a moment, the tables, display cabinets and interiors with which they are usually associated, setting off towards new horizons.

A beach, a street, a garden, an architectural setting or a particular quality of light can then become a new frame for them. In these sometimes unexpected surroundings, forms reveal themselves differently, colours find new echoes and traces of time take on a new presence.

“Perspectives” thus invites objects from the past to encounter places of the present. Each photograph captures the delicate moment of this encounter: a balance between an object, a place and light. A few words then carry the image further, evoking its atmosphere or allowing a story to surface.

As these journeys unfold, the way we look at objects moves beyond their origin, appearance and function. They become silent companions to the places they pass through, weaving unexpected connections across eras, materials, sensibilities, and more. This dialogue also bears the imprint of the Japanese sensibility and aesthetic that inspire Atelier HaruFuyu: an appreciation of simplicity, the subtle accord between object and place, and the quiet beauty of the traces of time.
